Most Wanted Vehicles of 2013

We uncovered some real surprises in the categories of pickup trucks and sedans.  What if I told you that the top pickup was not produced by Chevy, Dodge, or Ford?  What do you think the most popular sedan should be?  We have the answer for you.  Utilizing our traffic data, we have compiled the top five most wanted vehicles of each body style from the year 2013.

Let’s jump right in to the results:

Top Sedans of 2013

1. Dodge Charger
2. Mitsubishi Lancer
3. Chevy Impala
4. Honda Accord
5. Subaru Impreza

The Dodge Charger frequently ranks in the top five of our month-over-month views.  One of the shocking points here is the absence of the Toyota Camry.  This popular sedan is often amid the top ten rankings throughout the year.  However, it just barely missed the year-end top five.

Top Pickups of 2013

1. Toyota Tacoma
2. Ford F-Series
3. Chevy Silverado
4. Ford Ranger
5. Ram 1500

A Toyota truck at the top?   You betcha’.  With the Tacoma and Tundra, Toyota has reigned as a key player in the world of pickups.  Outside of the top spot, there are not many surprises in this category.  Year after year, the Ford F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado, and the Ram 1500 remain stiff competition as the most popular pickup trucks.

Top Coupes of 2013

1. Ford Mustang
2. Chevy Camaro
3. Honda Civic
4. Mazda RX7
5. Porsche 911

Always a fun category, the field of coupes is led by the Ford Mustang.  The Ford Mustang’s only competition as king of the hill remains the Chevrolet Camaro.  The Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang place far above the rest of this group.  Surprisingly, two luxurious sports cars cracked the top five.  The Mazda RX7 and the Porsche 911 ground out the battle of coupes to secure the 4th and 5th spots.

Top SUVs of 2013

1. Jeep Wrangler
2. Chevy Tahoe
3. Ford Excursion
4. Toyota 4Runner
5. Chevy Suburban

The Jeep Wrangler has maintained a firm grasp on the #1 spot among SUVs.  It was interesting to see that the Ford Excursion and Toyota 4Runner edged out the Chevrolet Suburban, knocking it down to the fifth spot.  Traditionally, this flagship Chevy SUV maintains a strong footing in the top three places.  We’re confident the ‘Burban will find its way back up the ladder.

Top Hatchbacks of 2013

1. Toyota Supra
2. Volkswagen Beetle
3. Mini Cooper
4. Ford Focus
5. Dodge Caliber

Hatchbacks seem to be more and more common on the road as of late.  The Toyota Supra surprisingly knocked off the Volkswagen Beetle for the title of Most Wanted Hatchback in 2013.  The Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Beetle have been staples in the field of hatchbacks each month.  The Ford Focus and Dodge Caliber have gained a lot of ground in popularity this year, capturing the final two spots on our list.

Top MiniVans of 2013

1. Honda Odyssey
2. Toyota Sienna
3. Chrysler Town & Country
4. Ford Windstar
5. Dodge Grand Caravan

Last but not least, we break down the minivans of the world.  After maintaining the top spot for the past six months, the Honda Odyssey captured the year-end title!  Perhaps the incredibly convenient HondaVac System helped suction drivers’ attention.  Very few surprises among minivans this year, as results look very familiar to our monthly rankings.  Will the Toyota Sienna finally be able to take down the Honda Odyssey in the year to come?

With some heated battles across the board, a great deal of vehicles nearly cracked the top five in their respective category.  The Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry were chomping at the bit in the field of Sedans.  The Dodge Dakota and Toyota Tundra were creeping at the doorstep in the world of pickup trucks.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this breakdown of the year 2013.
