Mission Possible: Operation Christmas Child

Since 2014, Cars For Sale has supported Operation Christmas Child, a global charitable project organized by Samaritan’s Purse. Operation Christmas Child is a program close to our hearts that delivers shoeboxes full of Christmas cheer to children around the world. From toys to hygiene products to school supplies, each shoebox is packed with love and filled to the brim and then delivered to a child in need.

An Afternoon of Good Cheer

While it’s only an few hours for us, it’s a lifetime of joy for the children receiving our shoeboxes. Before we hit the local stores to fill our boxes, we gather to hear the stories or joy, love and hope these gifts represent and impact they have for children and families across the globe. With inspiration in the air, our employees quickly picked up their shoebox and headed off to nearby stores to find items for their child.

By the end of the afternoon, our team came together to pack a total of 225 boxes for the cause, all filled with toys and treats for boys and girls ages 2-14.

What Operation Christmas Child Means to Us

Our employees look forward to a time of reflection and giving back. As an organization with core values to give and serve, Operation Christmas Child strikes a chord and allows us to live the values we believe in.

Kelsey, who loves the holidays more than most and is celebrating her first Christmas here at Cars For Sale, said, “Operation Christmas Child was a great way to start the Christmas spirit for the upcoming holidays! Being able to go out and think of someone outside of the circle of people you know to be able to make that person feel special and remind them they are loved was heart-warming.”

Others like Andrew and Toby have enjoyed participating in this event for several years here at Cars For Sale. Andrew said, “Working with Operation Christmas Child is one of my favorite things about working at Cars For Sale. I always look forward to folding the boxes and helping get the event ready to go. It 100% gets me in the Christmas Spirit!” While Toby looks forward to the smiles on the child’s face. He said, “Operation Christmas Child is a great opportunity to give back and help kids in need around the world. I can just imagine how excited they will be when they open the shoe box just for them!”

“There’s still time to pack a shoebox for a child in need and to drop it off at one of 5,000 locations nationwide by November 25!” said Dana Williams, with Operation Christmas Child, “Delivered through local ministry partners, simple hygiene items, school supplies, and fun toys can send a powerful message of God’s love through Jesus Christ and let children around the world know they’re not forgotten.”
