We live in the world where the automotive industry is ruled by large, multi-national corporations. As we celebrate the 238th birthday of America, we asked ourselves what it truly means to be “Made in America.”
Earlier this year the Italian owned Fiat bought out the remaining 41.5% interest in Chrysler. Many BMW models, a British owned corporation, are assembled here in Spartanburg, SC. However, the Ford Fusion is made in Mexico and the Chevrolet Impala is made in Ontario, Canada. How is the average American consumer supposed to keep track? It is hard when car buying to really understand what is meant when a manufacturer states a vehicle is “Made in America.”
